The Wanderer
The Wanderer is the story of a man’s desperate journey to survive in a brutal and unforgiving post apocalyptic world. It’s a game we’ve been working on for the last few months when we’ve been able to find some time. I guess you could think of it as what might happen if Fallout or Wasteland collided with FTL - a roguelike, or I suppose a “roguelite”.

Post apocalyptic fiction has always fascinated me, since the first time I played Wasteland as a kid. I’m gripped by the question of what would happen to us all in a world without rules and structure. Would we retain our humanity? If not, would any of it remain? If our circumstances became dire, what would we be prepared to do to survive another 24 hours?
These are the questions that underpin The Wanderer. In this universe, the easiest path is the most despicable one. Traditional post apocalyptic game worlds tend to present with their edges softened by humour or by averting a confrontation with the depth of human depravity. The Wanderer presents a gritty and terrifying vision of post apocalyptic life.
I’ve always felt there would be a parallel between post apocalyptic life and life in the American frontier (specifically the 1870s and 80s), and to that end The Wanderer draws inspiration from TV shows such as Deadwood and Hell on Rails, and novels such as Blood Meridian, as well as traditional post apocalyptic fiction such as Wasteland, Fallout, and the novel (or film) The Road.
So keep your weapon loaded and by your side; the New World is a dangerous one for a wanderer!
